Going Gray, Update, Month One ~

This month, I had roots….shiny silver roots!  Two inches worth, highly contrasting my chocolate brown dye.  So discouraging that I had just about decided to abandon ship and dump the March To Gray…ALREADY!

Then I went to see Bridget, my hairdresser, aka the “color whisperer”….

She was working on this gorgeous young thing, who decided at the age of 28 to go gray (all the rage, as I mentioned in my premier Going Gray post). The results, with a hint of lavender weaved in, were as stunning as she was….FullSizeRender 63I couldn’t take my eyes off her.  The contrast of the silver gray hair  with a tinge of  lavender sprinkled throughout, and that beautiful face were all I needed.  It was my omen to forge ahead.

SO….This month, I had the roots done in a lighter shade of brown, glints of ash blonde highlites, (not the golden yellow blonde I usually get), and an ashy glaze all over.  Bridget told me that by going to an ash tone, the transition will be less dramatic, more subtle, and easier to achieve.  The plan is to do more and more ash blonde glints as I cut the chocolate brown from the bottom, while the silver grows in and blends with the lighter roots…. Did you get all that?

MONTH ONE (SORRY ABOUT THE SHOVEL IN THE BACKGROUND…BUT THIS IS JANUARY IN NEW ENGLAND! THERE ARE SHOVELS EVERYWHERE!)

The goal now is to lighten the brown to ashy blonde as the silver starts to blend in with the glints.   A long journey, but every journey begins with a small step and sometimes an omen, right?

Stay warm and have a great day ~

    • Thanks, Cheryl…Not bad at all with the snow. There’s a lot, but it’s somewhat light, so that helps. Also, the wind, at least in my neck of the woods, is almost non-existent! That’s huge, as the chance of losing power diminishes greatly. So, we cook all day…tomorrow post will be the result! Stay warm, and have a great day!
